Elliptigo 8C Elliptical Bike Review

The ElliptiGo 8C is the mid-level model in the line of outdoor elliptical bikes by ElliptiGo, offered for $2,499. The 8C has the ability to go up to 25 mph, with a comfortable average cruising speed of 15 mph. Users can also choose from eight levels of resistance, or speeds, and climb up to a 20-30% grade. The 8C features a 306% total gear range, which means that for the same pedaling speed, a user could travel over three times as fast in top gear as bottom. When it comes to the frame, the 8C aluminum frame weighs 44 pounds, and comes in between 50 to 58 inches in height when in operation. When the steering column is removed, the trainer can be shortened to 32 inches, but if the front wheel is also removed, the trainer is only 27 inches tall, which is perfect for indoor storage. The front and rear brakes are a linear pull rim brakes system, with two-finger brake levers and 53-tooth chainring (the most in the series). The Ergon GC3 multi-position grips are comfortable are just in reach. Both the front and rear wheels are 20 inches total, with 28 spokes in the front and 32 at the back, and a Sturmey 8-speed geared hub and integral aluminum track system.  The 8C also features a dual leg aluminum kickstand.

The Bottom Line

The ElliptiGo 8C is the ideal outdoor elliptical trainer for users who plan to use their trainer on terrain that is not just flat and smooth. If you are looking for the ability to maneuver hillier terrain and get in a more challenging workout with eight resistance level options, the 8C is a great trainer. However, if you are not interested in more challenging terrain, the Elliptigo 3C would be a better value at $700 cheaper than the 8C, but with similar features and adjustable options.
