Detailed Overview

The A.C.T. Commercial elliptical is the entry-level trainer in the Mid-Merch Commercial series of center drive trainers, offered for around $1000. Unlike the other trainers in this series, this model lacks an advanced console but it does feature iFit compatibility, module included, as well as 26 built-in workout programs and 22 digital levels of resistance.  iFit is a workout app that allows users to track workouts, store data, build their own workouts and build their own journey using Google Maps, making it easy to keep workouts fun. With the 26 workout programs built in, 10 are calorie counting programs, 8 interval workouts and 8 performance-based. Combine these programs with the CardioGrip heart rate monitoring capabilities built into the stationary handlebars, or the Polar wireless heart rate monitoring system, and users can easily track and monitor workouts every time. Just like the other models, this console also features iPod compatibility and two 2 inch Intermix Acoustics speakers. When it comes to adjustable features, this model allows users to manually adjust the stride from 18 to 20 to 22 inches. The foot pedals are also cushioned and oversized, perfect for users of all shapes and sizes. And perhaps the best feature of this trainer is its flywheel weight at 20 pounds, combined with a 350 pound weight capacity, which means an incredibly smooth workout experience. Also built with Silent Magnetic Resistance technology, and a 22 inch long design with transport wheels, this trainer is ideal for smaller spaces where noise and space are issues.

The Bottom Line

The NordicTrack A.C.T. Commercial Elliptical trainer is a well-priced trainer when you look at the design and drive system, but it does lack when it comes to adjustable features. However, if you are looking for a trainer that is well-built, quiet, and easy to store, and still center drive designed, this trainer is your best bet in the entire series. At $1,000 cheaper than the trainer just above it, if you are not looking for too many advanced entertainment options, this trainer is a great option. It still comes with iFit but it does lack a full color touch screen. The bottom line is that this trainer is a great deal but it could use more adjustable features as a compromise to the lack of advanced entertainment features of the other trainers in the series.
