ProForm Carbon HIIT H7 Trainer Review

The ProForm Carbon HIIT H7 has now replaced the brand’s original HIIT Trainer. Much like the discontinued model, the key focus of the Carbon HIIT H7 is high-intensity interval training. Although this type of training isn’t suitable for everyone as it is intense by nature, the ProForm HIIT trainers allow for a low impact version of this training style. The Carbon HIIT H7 allows for a full-body workout by design. Its vertical elliptical path places it within the elliptical/stepper hybrid category. The steep 10” vertical by 5” horizontal elliptical path in combination with the moving arm bars means you can engage basically every muscle in your body with each step. The oversized, cushioned pedals and multi-function handlebars support this even further as they allow you to reposition your arms and feet to engage different muscles, as well as adding to the comfort factor of the machine.

With its 24 levels of smooth and quiet magnetic resistance from a 30-pound flywheel, the Carbon HIIT H7 will keep most trainees challenged. It will also suit basically any budget, as currently, you get the machine for free if you pay for a 3-year iFit membership. With a machine like this, you would likely want to pay for interactive training anyway. So the fact that you can get the trainer for free with just the $39/month iFit subscription over 3 years is a real steal. Payments will total $1,403.

You can take advantage of the world-class iFit training on the Carbon HIIT H7’s 7″ HD touchscreen. The discontinued model was a bring-your-own-tech machine. The H7 makes it easy to hop on, choose an iFit workout and get to work. We love that the iFit trainers can automatically adjust the resistance for you mid-workout. It adds a whole new dimension to your at-home training routine as it feels like there is someone pushing you along to reach your goals and take your workouts up a notch every time.

One thing to keep in mind here is the return policy. It’s worth looking at this in more detail because the brand’s general return policy doesn’t apply here. According to the ProForm website, “your monthly payment is $39 for 36 months until you pay the full price of $1403… You may return your ProForm equipment and cancel your iFit membership within 30 days of receipt of the product. After 30 days, you may cancel your iFit membership at any time, but your remaining balance will then be due.”

• Fixed Stride rather than variable, with a 10” vertical path and a 5” horizontal one
• HIIT is fantastic for sparking the metabolism and sculpting the body, but it’s not for everyone, for example, those with high blood pressure
• Labor Warranty isn’t great at 1 year, even if the warranty package is good on the whole

The Bottom Line

The Carbon HIIT H7 is a top-of-the-line trainer that earns major points for its stellar combination of components, entertainment, and comfort features. Add in the fact that the machine is free with a 3-year iFit membership (which we would want to pay for anyway) and you have a top-value hybrid elliptical machine. The 30-pound drive and wide selection of resistance levels make it suitable for a wide range of trainees’ strength levels, much like a health club cross-trainer. Just keep in mind that its strengths lie in the HIIT training capability. You will be able to build strength with the vertical step design as well as working on your cardio and endurance. It’s best for people who will use it for this HIIT training capacity, and who are already willing to pay for iFit on a monthly basis.
