Weslo is manufactured by Utah-based ICON Health and Fitness, the largest manufacturer, developer, and marketer of fitness equipment who also manufacture big name brands like Pro-Form and NordicTrack. Weslo is their brand designed for what they call the “budget-conscious lifestyle,” which means these machines are incredibly affordable and designed for people who are just getting into fitness and working out.
Weslo brand machines include treadmills, elliptical trainers and bikes; all ranging in price from about $100 to $300. You won’t find many fancy features or innovative consoles on these machines. They offer the very bare basics necessary for working out, and not much else.
Most of their machines come with a 90-day warranty and lower weight capacities topping out between 150 and 250 pounds. This means that Weslo brand machines might not be ideal for just anyone, but they are ideal for light use and saving money.
Rear-Drive Elliptical Trainers
Weslo offers three models of rear-drive elliptical trainers (they make no front or center drive trainers). The models include the Momentum G 3.8 and Momentum CT 3.0, which both retail for $199, and the Momentum G 3.1, which usually retails for $299 but sells for $199 via the Weslo website.
All of these elliptical trainers feature a shorter than average 12″ stride and manually adjustable resistance controls. They also withstand user weights of up 250 pounds and come with a 90-day warranty on parts on labor. The flywheel weight is not disclosed, but we can assume it’s fairly light based on this low user weight and limited warranty. From all three models, the G 3.1 is supposed to be the “top” model, with a more attractive design and comfort-grip handlebars. The CT 3.0 features plastic coverings, something the G 3.8 lacks, but other than that, there are not too many differences between these two models.
When it comes to the console, each model offers a small LCD window with basic workout readouts and Easy Pulse(TM) heart rate monitoring contact sensors built in. Each model offers two workout programs and the CT 3.0 and G 3.1 also feature target pacer along with an RPM meter display.
These models all top out unit weights just under 100 pounds making them incredibly lightweight and easy to move around. The transport wheels also make these compact models easy to store.

However; you do get what you pay for, so don’t be surprised with the noisier than usual operation, limited console offerings, and overall basic design. You won’t find comfort or performance features, but you will find a very basic piece of equipment designed for people on a budget. Our verdict: great price, but proceed with caution, and note that 90-day warranty.
