Detailed Overview

Editors Summary: The Momentum CT 3.0 boasts an impressive price tag and compact design, making this model an ideal budget-friendly choice.

The Momentum CT 3.0 elliptical trainer is an affordable trainer by Weslo, retailing for $199. Weslo offers a 90-day warranty on parts and labor, and as with all other elliptical trainers by this brand, the CT 3.0 is a rear drive designed model with a lightweight flywheel and low weight capacity.

With a unit weight of just under 100 pounds, the CT 3.0 is incredibly lightweight. It’s also very compact with dimensions of 44”x21”x54.5”. In addition to the compact design and light frame, the model is also equipped with transport wheels for easy storage as needed. The frame on this model features attractive plastic coverings that the G 3.8 model lacks, making this model slightly more enhancing.

The CT 3.0 offers bare basics with a shorter than average 12” fixed stride, manually adjustable resistance options, and upper-body handlebars that are curved for an ergonomically sound design. If users want to monitor their heart rate, they can do so using the built-in contact grip Easy Pulse(TM) sensors, and heart rate, along with other basic readouts like time, calories, etc. are accessible via the LCD window display. Users have an RPM meter which displays revolutions per minute, and two built-in workout programs to choose from, as well as a target pacer feature to help users keep track of progress and make changes accordingly.

The console area is also designed with a water bottle holder but lacks a reading rack, accessories tray, or audio features.
Weslo does not disclose the flywheel weight, but we assume it’s fairly lightweight, well under the average of around 15 pounds, based on the 250 pound user capacity.

Our Favorite Features

  • Affordable at just under $200
  • Easy Pulse(TM) built-in contact grip heart rate sensor
  • RPM meter display tracks revolutions per minute
  • Target pacer helps users monitor progress
  • Rear-drive design
  • Compact frame with transport wheels

Our Least Favorite Features

  • Flywheel weight is “undisclosed”
  • Short 12” stride (average should be between 18” and 22”)
  • Manually adjustable resistance
  • Low weight capacity at just 250 pounds
  • Minimalistic console lacks entertainment or audio options
  • Limited 90-day warranty on parts and labor only

The Bottom Line

If your goal is to save money, the CT 3.0 might be a good fit for you, but there are many other models out there that are well under $1000 that are more reliable and durable. There are no comfort, performance or entertainment features to speak of on this model really and so we cannot recommend this model without some reservations. If you want to save money, and you are not interested in advanced consoles or flashy features, a better choice might be the EX-59 by Horizon, which retails for just under $700 but comes with a longer 18” stride, 10 program options, and a lifetime warranty on the frame. This model still has a lower weight capacity and light flywheel, but it’s more reliable and is equipped with more workout options.
